MPR softball gained its first win of the season Thursday night, with an impressive 21-6 effort over History Batters.

Highlights of the game included the 30-pack of Hamm’s beer, brought by Coach Tom. Coach Tom later made a crazy catch in left field that he’ll probably brag about for a while.

Jim McGuinn continued his tradition of hitting a home run in his first game of the season; New Tom Scheck added a 3-run HR later and even played shortstop for a while.

The team was saved by the last-minute addition of two ladies, Jess Weaver and Ellen Rolfes. We thank them for their service to America, as we do all women on the team!

Then, at Chalk Talk, Nancy Rothman pulled up a pull tab ticket with a $210 winner — which went to five people, one of whom was NOT New Tom Scheck. Coach Tom cashed in the winner, after confirming he had no outstanding child support payments.

The only thing that would have been better is if Doug had been there, instead of with his own family.
