Thank God for Mason

Posted under Bombat

At this point in the season, I’m thanking the heavens above that Mason is in a batting slump. Even so, I continue to believe that I may make history this year by awarding myself the Bombat. Apparently there are only so many hits in the cosmos allowed to the Wareham family, and Ben seems to be sucking them all up. Needless to say, I will no longer be feeding him and hopefully next week he’ll be in a weakened state. Wow, has it really come to that?

A whole lotta nothin’

Posted under Bombat

Tuesday night’s lack of hitting gave much fodder for Bombat consideration. 3 runs is a pretty poor showing of offensive prowess. Jenner did NOT hit a homerun, so she’s obviously not living up to her potential. Still, with May coming to a close, I’m the leading candidate for the coveted prize. Fortunately, there’s still a lot of season left to play.

Girl Power and all that

Nancy and Jenner have established their batting potential.  Jim would like me to add that his .917 average should keep him out of the running.  Brian Bakst and Al Schoch also have team high status as Memorial Day rolls in.  Just a reminder to these and all you other early peakers that it’s a long season and there’s lots of time for a slide.  By the way, giving away the bombat has had a boosted Allison’s average to .700.  Way to go Rook.

Quest for the Bombat: Early Season Thoughts

Posted under Bombat

(Editor’s note: Bombat holder Linda Wareham has been invited to share her thoughts about potential recipients throughout this season. You can follow what I’m sure will be a very interesting train of thought by selecting the Bombat category.)

Although I missed Thursday night’s game, I did get an opportunity to see a lot of early season softball at the doubleheader on Tuesday. The 7th inning comeback in game two showed a lot of hitting heart and gave me things to file away as I begin the process of eliminating all but one of you. Early season leaders: Jim because he was mean to me, Scheck just because it will make him crazy, and me because I didn’t get a hit. Has anyone given themselves the Bombat? I’ll have to check with the Historian. Those of you who were at Thursday’s game, feel free to weigh in.
