MPR played Cherry Pit on Thursday, a team we’ve lost to many times before by wider margins. AND! With so many players gone, we had a skeleton crew of 12 – but we hung in there and even rallied in the final inning before only falling 13-12.
A great effort! One that included a 6-run fourth inning; Johnny Rothman and Tom Scheck both hitting solo homers; and MPR retiring Cherry Pit 1-2-3 for the first time, possibly, in team history.
The three people in this photo also had big games!
Emily Reese had three hits! (including at least 2 smoking line drives up the middle + 2 RBIs) Tracy Fisher had her first hit of the season and scored a run! And Johnny Vince had a dribbling hit that became a single, RBI, and later a run in the 4th.
And! Captains Tom and Jill are big proponents of getting young talent going early, even if it means a rebuilding year. After the game, Babies Scheck and Baskt practiced a lap around the bases for the one day they’ll both be called upon to play on the MPR team…
