Mini-Season
The team was organized by Garrison Keillor. The first game was played July 19, 1981 at Bryn-Mawr park in Minneapolis against a team of Twin Cities musicians. MPR won by a wide margin. The team was dominated by the Handford family and friends. Unofficial team nickname: The Whippets.
