The Year of the Handfords. Twas fantastico!
With team founder/conductor Dorothy
directing the action from on high and Hall of Fame daughter Annie helping to lead the
way down below, the co-rec team does itself proud with a perfect May and a second
place finish in the State Employees league (9-3 league; 1-2 tournament.) The men’s
team sweeps the new Hazel Park league with a perfect May but swoons in June and
struggles to a sub .500 finish (6-5 league; 1-3 tournament.) Notes: the team finds its
identity: Dorothy’s Strays. The Rothman’s host the banquet-complete with piano bar.
Worrisome trend: so few rookies. Hopeful trend: the first full-time return to action by a
Hall of Famer (Annie H.) The Wick: EImo, by acclimation. Team question: Does the
the Loinlady play softball?
